RMRDC, MISEDI Partner to Deepen Women’s Economic Empowerment, Support Value Addition Bill

The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) and the Micro Sector Development Initiative (MISEDI) are strengthening their collaboration to promote women’s economic empowerment and inclusive industrial growth through strategic local value addition. This partnership was highlighted during a courtesy visit by a MISEDI delegation to the RMRDC headquarters in Abuja.

During the visit, RMRDC Director-General Prof. Nnanyelugo M. Ike-Muonso was officially honored as a Patron of MISEDI, reinforcing the commitment between the two organizations. The delegation, led by Mrs. Bosede Etiokpa and Mrs. Ijeoma Nwaorah, presented a commemorative plaque to the Director-General.

MISEDI leaders praised the Director-General’s leadership and reaffirmed their support for the proposed 30% Value Addition Bill currently before the National Assembly. This legislation is considered critical for Nigeria’s industrial transformation by encouraging the local processing of abundant raw materials.

The partnership aims to drive job creation and expand opportunities for women-led small and medium-scale enterprises. Greater local processing is viewed as a vital step towards enhancing the economic standing of women within the industrial sector.
